It was quite a journey for both of us - including an unexpected overnight stay in Beijing due to delayed flights and missed connections, but we're here in Bangkok now. The bikes are assembled. The bags are nearly packed. The plan is to head by train to Chumphon tomorrow and then head across the Kra peninsula and down the Andaman coast. I'll add more detail later and maybe even some pictures.
Wednesday/Thursday/Friday
These days are all blurred together for me. Wednesday and Thursday seemed identical – at least at the beginning. I went to Kaiser for my final rabies shot (they said I was too early and asked me to return on Thursday. Then on Wednesday I took Caroline to SFO. On Thursday Martha took we to SFO.
For Caroline and me, our story is essentially the same – just off by a day. The SFO to Beijing to Bangkok connection included a planned one-hour layover. For both of us, the one hour turned into an overnight stay in an airline sponsored hotel. One might wonder how often it occurs – they seemed well prepared to compensate for the delay.
