Caroline awoke as soon as it was light. We found a 7-11 for some quick nourishment. After downing a sandwich, milk, and yogurt, I was feeling right again.
The bike ride was definitely worth the hassle of getting there. The initial incline was gradual – we headed pretty much due west to the town of Ranong. By brunch, we had crossed most of the Kra peninsula – to the town of Kraburi, a distance of about 60km. We finished the ride in Ranong, around 4pm, traveling about 120km in just over 6 hours of biking time.
Caroline’s stats:
Time spent riding: 6hr 52min
Distance: 126.0km
Average speed: 18.3km/h
Max. speed: 43.4km/h
Bike shoe tan line rating: 4 (out of 10)
Number of ice creams on the road: 2
Sore butt index: 7.5 (out of 10)
Pad thais consumed thus far: 4
The road was great for biking – gradual inclines, little traffic, wide lanes and shoulders, almost no potholes, and fantastic scenery. The people we passed all greeted us with calls, horn honks, or curious stares. Here are a few of our pictures from Monday.

great post! sounds like lots of fun and hard work, too -- 126km?!? that sore butt index and those ice creams are justified :)
