Wednesday

Today, we got up before dawn and were on a very misty road by 6:30am. The temperature was great, we had the road basically to ourselves, but the only downside was that the dogs are a bit more energetic at that hour. You’ll see evidence in the seemingly popular stats section of the blog.

At about 9am, we stopped for food after 38km. There was a open-air market where we found sugary, egg waffles with coconut (see pictures below); other pastries, and a pineapple – very juicy. Feeling very full, we got back on the road for the remaining 26km to the town of Khuraburi. We rolled in around 11am and found a nice, funkyish bungalow. Tonight we sleep under the mosquito nets because the windows don’t have screens and the door doesn’t exactly close all around.  The bathroom is indoors and that’s a plus!

We had planned to see if we could get a boat to Ko Surin, which is supposed to have some of the clearest water in the world, but we snorkeled for about 5 minutes in murky water instead. There are challenges to communicating clearly. We learned a lesson. We did have a boat ride and got some pictures.
